This Week
This week we have been so busy I haven't taken any pictures. Emma has made some comments worth repeating, but I didn't write any of them down and have forgotten most of them. The one I do remember happened when Chucky told Emma something she didn't like. She was sitting in the floor cutting paper and she looked at Chucky and said, "When you turn into paper, I'm going to cut you!" It was so mean and so funny I couldn't do anything but laugh.
Friday night we took Emma and her cousin Maggie to the carnival in Kilmarnock. They both were so excited it was contagious. I ended up riding the ferris wheel with them, which I pretended to like. I also rode the merry go round, which I did like.
Saturday morning Libby rolled over! She was up in her crib and Emma and I were cheering her on. She did it 2 or 3 times then was so tired I picked her up. I tried to get her to do it again in the afternoon so Chucky could see it but she only made it halfway over. Emma didn't roll over until she was 5 months old, so Libby doing it at 3 months was a surprise.

Baby Aubrey
Baby Aubrey (and her mom and dad) came to visit on Sunday. She is eight months old and crawling and smiling and delightful. We all went out to dinner and it wasn't a disaster. Amazing! Emma was even nice to Chris - who is a stranger to her so I was very proud of her. Emma is already asking when they will return.

Pedicures, Cinderella and Swimming
Our weekend got off to a great start - Friday I sent both girls to daycare and had a day to myself. I should have laid on the couch all day but I would have felt really guilty the whole time, so first I went to the Toyota dealership inquiring about a new minivan. Then I stayed in Gloucester and went to a few shops where a found a very cute outfit for Libby to wear next summer. Next I stopped at the vegetable stand, then on to wal-mart for a pedicure and grocery shopping. Yes, that's a pedicure at wal-mart! Well I did stop at a local beauty salon first but they were all booked up and I deserved it and it was great, so there!
Saturday I took the girls to the Urbanna farmer's market where we bought nothing, left the pacifier in the street, and had too much sun on Libby. When we got home Emma played in the pool then we dressed her up to go see a production of Cinderella at the middle school. Nannie took Maggie and Emma and when they returned home, Chucky, Libby and I were out on the back deck. The evenings have been so nice the past few days we have been eating outside every night. Libby is such a good girl, we just put her in her papasan seat and put her up on the table with the food or on the deck by our feet. We ordered a pizza and Maggie stayed for dinner and more pool time. We weren't expecting more pool time, so I suggested she get in anyway because the water wasn't high enough to reach her shorts. And you can guess that by the time Nannie came to pick her up, the only dry thing on her was her hair!
Sunday Chucky played golf (a given on every Sunday afternoon during spring and summer) and I left Libby home with Martha while Emma and I went to Sue-Sue's neighborhood pool all the way in Northumberland county. Chas can doggie paddle around the shallow end and also swim underwater a little ways. Emma can swim around the shallow end in her water wings. I was really surprised she could do that since she hadn't been in a pool since last summer. I was even more surprised she was willing to even put on the water wings. I was so proud of my little fish (and a little worried that the water is the one thing in this world she is not afraid of)!

Big Sister, Little Sister
Today we cooked cabbage and chocolate chip muffins. The other night when we were trying to decide what to do for dinner, I asked Emma if she wanted pizza for dinner. She said, "no, I want cabbage." We all laughed so hard that Libby started smiling with us. So tonight we ate our cabbage for dinner and Emma enjoyed every bite. The chocolate chip muffins will be for breakfast, yum!

July 4th
After another nap (yay!!!!) for Emma, we went to Beverly's house for dinner on July 4. There are two new babies in the family, and they were passed around so the parents could eat and so that everyone got to enjoy a little baby moment. Of course when the diapers were dirty, the babies were immediately passed back to their mothers!

Heritage Day
Deltaville had Heritage Day on Saturday. The day starts with a pet parade and children's parade. Nannie fixed some costumes and things to carry for Emma and Maggie. Maggie had to do it by herself because Emma was in a mood and wouldn't wear or carry anything, would only walk if I held her hand, and halfway through started crying and ran to her daddy. Great start to a day I knew would end around 10pm.
Next, we go get a fresh squeezed lemonade for Emma. She cries because there is ice in it, whines for 15 minutes and tries to throw the lemonade on the ground because she is mad. Then when I start drinking it she goes into histerics. Nannie gets her a shaved ice drinnk - purple, just like Emma asked for. She has to eat that with the plastic slurpee spoon it came with and someone else has to hold the cup so that takes what felt like an hour.
Then the girls and I head home while Chucky stays in town to help the fire department sell raffle tickets. After a bottle for Libby and lunch for Emma and me, we go back into town to watch the parade. It was noisy and Emma did well. I later discovered that sitting under the tree in the shade and keeping a hat on Libby did nothing to keep her out of the sun and she now has a mild sunburn on her legs, arms and face. Bad mommy.
Then the girls and I head home again. Chucky stays in town to help the fire department get all the fireworks loaded and ready. Emma (who has not taken a nap at home in several months) is so cranky I tell her if she doesn't take a nap we aren't going to go to the fireworks. She says ok well I don't want to go anyway. Plan B: threaten her with a spanking if she gets out of her bed. She slept for more than two hours. Too bad Libby wasn't sleepy or we all could have taken a nap! Then Emma eats a pancake for dinner and we pack up and go the ball park around 6:30 to tailgate until the fireworks start around 9:00. That was the most relaxing time of the day. Emma played ball, ate some snacks, hung out with baby Garrison and otherwise amused herself while I took care of Libby and ate my dinner. Finally the fireworks started. Libby stayed awake for about half of the show, then fell asleep in her aunt Beverly's arms. Emma covered her ears at first, but halfway through was walking around and shouting that the blue ones are her favorite. She even laid down next to a couple of girls she hardly knows. Big step for our very stranger-wary child. Thank goodness for the nap.
His name is Tuna . . . and he's hot!
