Shelby

Shelby close1

My first little baby is ten years old today! I received her as a puppy in 1999. My boyfriend (now my husband) took me to a breeder so I could choose which puppy I wanted. I chose Shelby and couldn't get her for a few more weeks. Those were some very long weeks! I agonized over the name choices. When I finally got her, I brought her home and set her on my bed. I sat down in the floor to take off my shoes and she tumbled off. Lesson #1, don't put a little puppy on the big bed! I took countless pictures, dressed her up, and tried to take her everywhere. We took an obedience class, and on the weekends I would take her to the fenced in tennis courts so she could run around off of her leash. I lived alone at the time, and she was my companion. She snorted, she snored, and I thought she was the most precious thing I'd ever seen. She has shed so much hair over the years I could have made twenty more pugs. Once or twice I thought I had lost her, she wandered too far into the woods. Now she's deaf and a little slow, but she's just as sweet as ever. She's been there for two moves, a husband and two babies, and the gaining and losing of a pug brother. Happy Birthday, Shelby. You and I were both different girls ten years ago.
